I want to go Home!

Chris Tomlin’s song, Home, Inspired this post.

As I listened to the song, like so many Christians I thought of going home, to heaven. We eagerly await the day that we can be with our creator but then a thought came into my head.

So many of us are eager to go home, but are we truly ready to go home. Now, this is not a post about salvation and sin, but do you really know what it means to go home.

“Is the thought of going home to heaven a thought of escaping what’s happening in your life right now? If it is, you’re…”

If we think about what it means to go home on earth right now, you had a long day at work and as you’re driving in your car and an excitement comes over you. You’re going where you can be totally vulnerable, your home is hopefully filled with peace and joy. Your family awaits you and you guys are excited to spend time with one another.

You’re excited to love on one another, to fellowship and relax, that’s what it means to be home. Does your home feel like that now?

“We should be going home to Jesus, having done all that he has told us to do, having enjoyed our lives and now ready to rest for all of eternity with him.”

Is the thought of going home to heaven a thought of escaping what’s happening in your life right now? If it is, you’re not ready to go home. If God were to call you home right now, do you really want to enter his gates with all that baggage.

We should be going home to Jesus, having done all that he has told us to do, having enjoyed our lives and now ready to rest for all of eternity with him.

If you want to go home simply because you are tired, that’s not the right mentality. I’m not speaking of being tired because of all the evil in the world, although the bible does tell us about that as well:

“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed.”Matthew 24:6

The tiredness I’m speaking of, is the spiritual and physical tiredness because your marriage is in a bad place, because you have debt, because life is just plain hard!

God has rest for the weary, he tells us to rest in him because he knew we would have trouble in this life and always has a plan to see us out of that trouble.

You have to get active about your life, you have to get excited about your life. You can not just let day after day go bye, waiting to leave this earth. That is not what God wants for us, that is not the plan he has for us on this planet.

“Be excited about going home to meet Jesus but also be excited about the things God is doing on this earth and the things he can do, is doing and will do in your life.”

Think about it, if his plan for us was to just wait to go home to him, wouldn’t he have called us home long ago. He has things for us to do here, he wants us to enjoy our time here, he wants us to love on one another.

We can’t just simply escape this earth and never look back. You will eventually have to account for what you did in this life and as nice as it is that you were eager to meet our creator, he will ask about the things he prompted you to do, he will ask why you didn’t trust him to make that bad situation better.

Be excited about going home to meet Jesus but also be excited about the things God is doing on this earth and the things he can do, is doing and will do in your life.

Hahaha, as I finished writing this post, the song just came on KLove. God you are amazing !!

Love,

Danielle
