Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.
Last week I decided not to post anything on the blog so I could focus on completing a script. For days I was unsettled with what I was writing. My characters didn’t seem right, their personalities weren’t coming through like I imagined them and the overall moral of the story wasn’t apparent.
Each day I wrote a little more but kept stopping because it just didn’t feel right. Finally on Saturday as I focused more on worshipping and listened to a few messages from various ministers, finally, the plot of the story came to me. As I wrote the beginning of the story I could visualize the characters and the reactions and it just flowed.
It’s funny that it took me a while to realize that the presence of God needs to be with you in Every. Single. Area. Of. Your. Life. I’m realizing and acknowledging that my creativity doesn’t come from me I am simply a vessel being used by the almighty God. I had to relinquish control of my ship for him to step forward and get his message out.
So much of the frustration I deal with comes when I try to figure things out myself. If his presence is not with me as I write I will delete the whole thing and start again. If his presence is not with me when I have a tough decision to make I will dig deeper until I hear from him.
What frustrations are you dealing with today? Do you feel God’s presence with you? If not take time to sit in silence or listen to a message or simply worship until you find yourself back in his presence and frustration will flee. Notice I didn’t say staying in God’s presence gives you all the answers. He doesn’t always give us the plan spelled out for our lives but I guarantee you his presence will guide you along the way towards his plan for your life.
Lord, where your presence goes we will go; if your presence will not go with us then do not raise us up from where we are.
